Our Spirits Don’t Age
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, (our body) yet the inward man (our spirit) is being renewed day by day” 2 Corinthians 4:16.
Have your ever wondered why even though your older, you have wrinkles on your face showing your age, yet you think to yourself, ‘I still think like I did when I was 20, 30, 40.... My thoughts haven't changed that much, although I hope, I'm a lot wiser. Life experiences have taught me many things’.
We think like we did when were young because our spirits don't age. Our bodies get old and die but our spirits live on. When we die, our spirits are the part of us that go to be with the Lord, provided we asked Him to be our Lord. He never says no.
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8.
When we leave earth we go to join our family that has been waiting to greet us in heaven. We have the hope of heaven. We have peace because of our hope of heaven.
“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep (died), lest you sorrow as others who have no hope” 1Thessalonians 4:13.
Make sure you know where your spirit is going. You never know what tomorrow will bring. It is not a good idea to put off what you can do today to ensure your eternal destiny.
A simple prayer: ‘Jesus I believe you died to purchase my salvation and pay my sin debt in full. I ask you to forgive my sins, and be my Lord and Savior.’ That's it. It is the gift of God who wants you to have eternal life. He will not force his gift, what His Son has done for you, on you. He wants you to ask and to invite Jesus into your heart.
We will see our loved ones again. It's God's promise to those who know Him.
